As someone who takes pride in their smile, it's extremely important to me that I do whatever I can to not only keep my teeth and gums healthy, but to also keep my teeth white!  I've used teeth whitening strips and gels for years but it's only led me to having a lot of tooth and gum sensitivity.  Over the past few years I've worked really hard to "ditch and switch" a lot of my personal care products over to more clean products that have better for you ingredients and my teeth whitening routine is no exception!

I decided to first invest in a high quality toothbrush.  Believe it or not, your toothbrush plays a huge role in how well you are able to clean your teeth and gums at every brush.  I got the cariPRO Electric Toothbrush from Smile Brilliant and am loving it so far.  It removes 7x more plaque than a manual toothbrush, meaning you can see gum health improvement in as little as two weeks!  It also helps to remove surface stains from my daily coffee and tea.  This is actually the first time I have used an electric toothbrush and it took a few days to get used to how different it felt on my teeth and gums but I couldn't believe how much cleaner my mouth felt after brushing with it compared to my normal manual toothbrush.

It has five different brush modes (clean, white, massage, gum care and sensitive).  I alternate between the "white" to help remove surface stains and whiten my teeth and "sensitive" because my gums tend to be really sensitive most of the time.  I love that it has a 30 day battery life on a full charge so I don't have to worry about charging it but once a month and it's waterproof so you can brush your teeth in the shower if you want.  It's also important to scrap your tongue with every brush because that's where a majority of the germs in your mouth live and this toothbrush has a tongue scraper built in!

In addition to upgrading my electric toothbrush I have been adding one drop of orange essential oil to my toothpaste on my toothbrush before each brush.  Orange essential oil is cold pressed from the rinds of oranges and it does not have a low pH like orange juice or lemon juice so it is extremely unlikely that it would cause acid erosion to your tooth's enamel if you are worried about that like I was.  Orange essential oil is a natural teeth whitener and since I've been using these two together I haven't had to use any other teeth whitening products!
