Is anyone else in shock that it is already 2018?! I feel like 2017 flew by! I have to admit I am pretty excited for the new year though. I love feeling like I have a fresh start to my habits and to improve in areas that I need it. The fact that the new year started on a Monday is even more of a fresh start! I try not to keep my resolution list long so that I can really focus on achieving those goals that I set for myself at the beginning of the year.
My 2018 Resolutions:
1) Read more books! I feel like reading used to be so much fun for me and an escape at the end of a long and stressful day but since becoming a mother I haven't had the time (or made the time) for reading! To try to help me stay on track with my goal, I joined Book of the Month which is a monthly book subscription service (this is 100% #NOTSPONSORED, I'm paying for my own service!). You get to choose the books you want for each month and I am so excited for my January box to arrive! If you want to join too you can get your first book for only $9.99 and a free tote bag with my referral link -> https://www.mybotm.com/s1wazlcmn9a :) When you join you can create your own link for your friends and family to use as well!
2) Be present & spend less time on my phone! I feel like in the world of social media we are all guilty of this from time to time. When we have a free second we are scrolling something on our phone instead of focusing on what is happening around us in our real lives. Social media is such a wonderful place for so many reasons and I love connecting with all of you and seeing all of your beautiful pictures and stories, but it is important to me this year to make time for my phone and social media and time for my "real life". I'm planning on making a few hours a day for work for my blog and social media and then setting my phone down and not scrolling anymore until after Lilly is in bed. She is growing up so fast and I don't want to miss anything!
3) Keep up with my skincare routine & drink more water! Okay, so this might be on everyone's resolution list, but for good reason! I saw a meme a few weeks ago that said "My body is saying give me water and I'm giving it more iced coffee" and I couldn't stop laughing because that is definitely me! #Guilty I need to drink more water and stay hydrated for my overall health! I'm thinking about getting this water bottle to carry around with me to encourage me to drink more water! I've heard it's the best one you can get. I also need to keep up with my skincare routine better. I am so guilty of falling asleep with makeup on after a long day and not washing my face until the next morning (gross I know!). I want to focus on doing my nightly skincare routine earlier in the night so I don't fall asleep first!
4) Focus on replacing toxic household items with safer and greener products! Off and on this past year I have done a few posts talking about some of the products I have been replacing for greener alternatives and this year I want to take it even further! The Think Dirty app has seriously made me rethink all of the products I am using on me and Lilly each and every day. I want Lilly to be as healthy as possible, so I'm going to focus on replacing two items a month with greener alternatives! First on my list is dryer sheets! I'm going to switch to wool dryer balls and essential oils. I recently purchased the Young Living Essential Oil Starter Kit and I am so excited to get started on using essential oils to replace toxic products all throughout my home! If you want to purchase your own starter kit you can message me and I'll be happy to help you or you can follow this link -> https://yl.pe/5z89 and select "member" to sign up! :)
5) Go on an international vacation with Lilly! I have the travel bug all of the time and take lots of short trips throughout the year, as you've probably seen, but since having Lilly I haven't taken any international trips! I really want to change that in 2018 and take Lilly on a fun adventure overseas. There is so much beauty and diversity in our world and I want her to see it all! I'm thinking London is at the top of our list but I am open to family friendly recommendations from you all!
6) Save 20% of all the money I make! I have been terrible about saving money in my adult life and being a single mama hasn't exactly helped the situation any. I've rode the struggle bus more times than I care to admit, but I already have a savings account and I am really going to focus on saving 20% of all the money I make in 2018. I know saving money is always a good idea and I want to have a cushion for me and Lilly if it is ever needed! How much money do you save of each paycheck you receive?!
I also welcome all of your suggestions for my blog and social media for the new year! I'd love to hear what you want to see more or less of and new ideas you may have for me, after all this community is for all of us and not just about me!
As for this pearl beaded dress, I am obsessed with it! It fits true to size and is really comfortable! I love the price tag (you all know I love a good deal!) and that it comes in 5 colors! I don't consider it to be sweatshirt material like the description online says, but more like a t-shirt material. I wore a light long sleeve tee underneath for extra warmth and was comfortable all day long.
This beanie is also another great deal that I found over the holiday season! It comes with a matching beanie for your little ones and comes in 6 different colors for under $10! I also got a pink version with two pom poms on top that I love! I wish Lilly would have worn hers for these pictures!
I'm also going to focus on a no-buy January. What this means is that I'm not going to purchase anything that isn't an absolute necessity, i.e. food and household products, for the entire month of January. Change of seasons are always a good time to take a purchasing break and appreciate what you already have in your closet and home. My favorite months to do this throughout the year are January, February and July. We'll see if I can do two consecutive months in a row ;-) Do you ever do a no-buy month?! I love saving money and can't wait to show you all the outfits I have planned with pieces I already have in my wardrobe throughout this month.
What are some of your New Year's Resolutions?!
As always thanks so much for stopping by!
XOXO Cassie

That pearly dress is adorbs! You and your daughter are soooo cute! I have done spending freezes before, like, "no spending money until spring break" (I am a teacher, so I base them around quarters/semesters-- haha!), and it helps a lot!! Especially if you broadcast it like you did on your blog-- then you're accountable! I will put it on Facebook so all my close friends know, too. I think that is the cutest dress ever, and I can't believe it's so inexpensive! Adorable.
