With summer right around the corner, I've had the itch to lighten my hair a shade or two. It's been a lonngggg time since I've been blonde or anywhere near blonde but I went to my local Sally Beauty to find a blonde shade that was close to my current hair color. I've been debating coloring my hair for a few months now because being almost 30, I am already noticing a lot of the signs of aging in my hair - less volume, less color and less moisture and shine overall. As a busy mom I don't always have the time to head to the hair salon to get my hair done, so I've been searching for the perfect at home hair color. Zotos Professional AGEbeautiful Liqui-Crème anti-aging hair color was my first choice because they are the first hair color that helps to fight the five major signs of aging in our hair - less volume, manageability, color, moisture and shine. Their hair color also gives you 100% gray coverage and is sold exclusively at Sally Beauty.

At Sally Beauty, I held my hair up to each of the displays to find my current hair color and a blonde shade that was pretty similar to my current hair color for a change but nothing too drastic. I ended up choosing Zotos Professional AGEbeautiful Liqui-Crème in 8G Medium Golden Blonde. The Liqui-Crème is able to be mixed and applied with a bowl, which is my preference. If you're looking to cover gray hair, going one shade lighter than your current hair color is recommended at first. After choosing your shade, you'll need to grab your developer as well. The developer that is recommended 99% of the time is 20 volume, but you can always ask an associate if you are unsure. I also made sure to grab a bowl, brush and gloves at Sally Beauty too!

Once I got home I took everything out of the package and ready to setup in my bathroom. You will want to start with your developer first. Typically the mixing ratio for developer to color is 1:1, meaning for every one ounce of developer you will want one ounce of color. I first added 2 oz of developer to my bowl and then the 2 oz of color and mixed them together. You could also use an applicator bottle if you'd like. Because I have long and thick hair, I ended up needing to use two of the 2 oz colors, but if you have short hair 1 oz may even be enough. Remember to always do a patch test to check for allergic reactions before completely coloring your hair.

Once I have my developer and color mixed, I put on an old t-shirt and threw a towel around my neck and back. You can even add conditioner or Vaseline around the edge of your hairline and tops of your ears to prevent color from getting on them. You then put your gloves on and apply your color! I left my color in for about 30 minutes and then rinsed it out, towel dried my hair and applied conditioner.
Before using Zotos Professional AGEbeautiful Liqui-Crème my hair was a light to medium brown and after it is a beautiful medium to dark golden blonde! I love the change and how much better my hair felt after coloring it! My hair felt fuller, silkier and full of shine. Their formula contains melanin, keratin peptides, silk proteins and patented conditioning technology to help replenish hair with essential components that are typically lost with aging. Their formula penetrates deeply into your hair and absorbs quickly leaving you with a beautiful, rich color!
